After School Programs

Art Appreciation

Description:  

Help with the art appreciation program in the classroom. A background in art is not needed.

 
Basket Committee

New position - 2 chairs and a committee of 5 to 7. This team will take on the role of soliciting donations, collecting items, creating baskets for raffle/auction at the Spring Dinner and other fundraisers throughout the year. (e.g. Military Bridge, Parents' Night Out)

 
Beautification Committee

Description:  

Team focused on keeping Washington school looking its best, both inside and out. Help with painting, planting or any area that will make Washington remain a wonderful place for our children.

 
Bicycle Safety

Description:  

Working with students and local law enforcement to ensure safe practices for all students riding bikes to/from school. Grades 3-5

 
Board of Ed Representative

Work with Wyckoff Board of Education for PTO matters concerning Washington School.

 
Book Fair

Coordinate planning and staffing for book fairs held at the school.

 
Class Parent Coordinator

Parents who assist teachers with special classroom activites and coordinate activites that require involvement of Washington Parents.

 
Community Service (4th & 5th grades)

Description:  

Team responsible for identifying community service projects for 5th grade Washington students.

 

 
Coordinating Council

Description:  

Represent Washington School for all PTOs in the district along with representatives from administration, Indian Hills/Ramapo High Schools and the Economy Shop. Serve as Washington's think tank for cirriculum, local, state and national education issues and more. Sponsor voter registration and absentee ballot campaigns. Meetings occur 3 times per year and are open to the general public.

Cultural Assemblies

Description:  

Research, coordinate and attend school assemblies. Ensure that assemblies meet budget guidelines and are approved by the Principal and PTO president.

 
Dads' Night Out

Description:  

New event for 2010-2011 school year. Plan and coordinate an evening out for the Washington dads.

 
Economy Shop
Chair:   Rhonda Battifarano and Marygrace Viggiano
Description:  

Coordinates volunteers and donations for district Economy Shop. Promotes awareness of the shop and works with other district schools as needed. The Economy Shop is a consignment and resale shop managed and operated on a volunteer basis by members of the Wyckoff PTO,Ramapo APTS, Indian Hills PTSO and local community. Additional volunteers are always needed to staff the shop. This will be the 61st year of community service for the shop! Main responsibility is making reminder phone calls for volunteers scheduled to work at the shop.

 
Eisenhower Representative

Description:  

Work with Eisenhower administration to report matters pertinent to 5th grade students. Communicate items to Washington PTO at monthly meetings and provide information as provided.

 
Environmental Awareness Committee

Description:  

New Position; need 1 additional chair and volunteers. Committee initiates environmental efforts and helps to educate on environmentally friendly ideas and practices.

 
Family Bingo

Fifth Grade Representatives

Friendship Basket

Harvest Festival

Hockey Night

Plan and manage products to be sold as a PTO fundraiser for December holidays. Coordinate staffing,class schedules and raise awareness to students and parents of this fun shopping event.

 
KidStuff Coupon Book

Description:  

New for 2010-2011 school year! Plan and coordinate all phases of the KidStuff coupon book sales. Distribute materials to students, collect forms and payments and distribute purchased items at the close of the promotion. Ladies' Game Night

Description:  

Games played in groups for PTO fundraiser in December.  Coordinate all participants and registration forms, collect raffles and prizes for event and manage seating.

 
Media Center

Help in the Media Center during your child's class. Responsibilities include checking books in and out and shelving and sorting books.

Plant Sale

School Supply Purchasing

This team gathers up the standardized teacher supply list by grade and compiles boxes of supplies purchased by parents. Each student gets a box specific to their grade if their parent purchases one. Distribution of supply boxes will be in early June. Available for students in grades 1 through 5.

Shopping Night

Special Lunch

Description:  

Work with food vendor to ensure ordering process is working as planned. Set deadlines and planning for pizza and lunch options. Collect payments for food throughout the school year and ensure volunteers are available to receive & disperse food on special lunch days.

This committee organizes a day where all students are encouraged to walk to school. Walk, run, jog, bike, blade, scooter or hop your way to Washington school.

 
Washington Wear

Determine Washington apparel to be sold, coordinate orders, collect payments, and prepare volunteers to sort and hand out purchased products.

 
Web Site Coordinator

Update all online tools for the PTO, work closely with other committee chairs to ensure information for special events is properly represented. Maintain calendars, photos, e-commerce, directory information and Friday folder content. Assist with any medium where web tools can be used to heighten communication with parents and students.

The Wyckoff Education Foundation is a non profit fundraising organization that was established to identify special needs for the school system. The Foundation is comprised of Wyckoff residents who volunteer their time and effort to achieve fundraising goals.There are monthly meetings and several annual fundraisers which will be communicated in the future.
